My now late step mother in law and her parents and three siblings emigrated to NZ South Island about 80 years ago.

They were all of diminutive stature, God fearing, frugal, hardworking.

My step mother in law was so lightweight she would have been blown into the North Sea.

My grandfather, Ernest Kay, born around 1900 in industrial Sheffield - was barely 5' tall. On average, his 3 grandsons born in the 1950's were a foot taller.

This is down to rickets - vitamin deficiency, essentially.

Vitamin D deficiency in childhood.

Maybe a *side* effect of the lockdown mentality and sunblock use with modern children.
