A magical day out, very quiet and gentle electric boating on the Union Canal with friends from the Scottish Electric Boat Association.
Everything is so green now, the canal is like a tunnel, and every bend brings another new duckling family, or a swoop of swallows. Plenty of buzzards, wood pigeons, crows and martins.
Lots of frogspawn/ toadspawn.
Maybe even a swift or two: but I can't be sure: too busy trying not to crash my boat rubbernecking the birds, but anyway the midges were busy rising, and on a muggy day like this, you can be sure there were some baby bird bellies filled.
I'm not pretending we saw anything unusual, but actually sometimes its lovely to just experience the normal, but a bit off-road.
This is my boat: it is a SeaHopper, it is 20 years old, and it folds up flat to go on my roofrack: how cool is that!
